Try this to boost your happiness at work

One tiny practice that has the power to change how you feel

Collect digital mementos into a “power board”

Many years ago, I heard about the power board concept — it’s like a virtual scrapbook of your work life.

You collect digital mementos of your proudest moments and work wins and pop them into a folder, stuff like

  • Snapshots from team outings

  • Screenshots of praise

  • Pieces of work product you’re particularly proud of

  • Pics that represent your greatest purpose — family, faith, charitable work and so on

Eight years on, here’s a tiny extract of 100s of files in mine:

Why you need a power board

Power board-ing is similar to a gratitude journalling practice in a couple ways:

  • Even just having a power board forces you to notice joy in your day-to-day

  • It offers a reminder of your best moments at work you can look back on when you’re feeling down

There’s a TON of research that shows adopting a gratitude practice makes you happier. Healthier. More connected to your purpose. More optimistic about your life.

From personal experience, looking back on my power board boosts my confidence 💪 and reminds me of the progress I’ve made over the years.

Try it!
